The Romantic Movement: Sex, Shopping, and the Novel, by Alain de Botton

For a novel about romance this was rather cool and scientific about examining the warm, wet nuts and bolts of a relationship. A surprisingly enjoyable antidote to the loopiness of The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing, though. More evidence that even smart people like hopeful endings.
